Jeremy Jarvis (b. 1980, Buffalo, WY) is
a composer, performer, visual artist and teacher. His technical palate is diverse, incorporating various international
stylistic elements – traditional and modern. His inspiration primarily derives from studies of the natural sciences
and spiritual disciplines. He holds a master’s degree in Music Composition from Arizona State University, where
he studied with James DeMars, Jody Rockmaker and Rodney Rogers. He earned his bachelor’s degree with magna cum
laude honors at West Virginia University, where he studied composition with John Beall and David Taddie and percussion with
George Willis, Adam Mason, Al Wrublesky, Matt Schoonmaker, Kurry Seymour, Sean Roberts, Ellie Mannette and Paschal Younge.
He spent his first two years of college at the University of Wyoming, where he gained crucial percussion performance insight
from Tony Richards and Steve Barnhart.
Mr. Jarvis has been an active member of the Society of
Composers, Inc. since 2002. He has served as President of the WVU chapter and Secretary of the ASU Chapter.
He has taught a wide variety of subjects to students of literally all age groups through the Rockley
Music Center, the Phoenix Conservatory of Music, the Academy of Arizona, Legacy Traditional School, the Young Mozarts program,
Substitute Teachers Unlimited, as a Teaching Assistant for the Theory Department of the School of Music at ASU and as a Freelance
Instructor. As a Teaching Artist, Mr. Jarvis maintains a high level of energy with a consistent focus, drawing from
his experience to illustrate the power and benefits of music. He clarifies multiple layers of structure and stresses
traditional and cultural influences, taking special care to relate to students’ interests. His commitment is to
bridge cultural divisions by encouraging communication through the arts.
Mr. Jarvis has recently
moved to Colorado, where he is planting musical seeds and cultivating new artistic crops. He composes nearly every morning,
works part-time as an in-store representative at Sears Home Services, and is open to discuss various performance opportunities.
